For Drifter Brian Peter, Maxxis Is Path to the Podium
For Brian Peter, 2008 is set to be one fantastic year. That’s because this is the season he goes from amateur to pro in Formula Drift - with strong support from Maxxis.
Peter is delighted by his new sponsorship: “I’m extremely happy; actually, I’m pretty thrilled about it. I’m a new driver to Formula Drift, and I’m just looking forward to getting out there and showing everybody what I’ve got. I’m excited to be with Maxxis because it’s a great tire company to do that with. It’s a great platform.”
Running the MA-Z1 Drift in 2007, when he took second place in the Formula Drift licensing event, convinced Peter that Maxxis is an essential component to a successful race season. “I used it at nationals, and it was awesome, and that was what made me want to go with Maxxis this year,” he said. “I’ve tried several different ones, and this is the best tire I’ve ever used. It wears really well; it doesn’t wear out. For drifting, smoke is important, and it gets a lot of smoke. And they have a lot of grip even when they’re hot.”
Getting ready for the upcoming season is keeping him busy – especially as he makes the transition to the pro class. As a grassroots driver, he was accustomed to acting on his own; now, he’s bringing on a crew chief and a mechanic. For someone who holds down a full-time job in addition to drifting, it’s a time-consuming task, but Peter wouldn’t have it any other way. Now in his fourth season as a drifter, he’s looking forward to leaving his home in Milwaukee to compete nationwide.
“Maxxis is proud to be both sponsor and partner to Brian Peter, and we look forward to his contributions at the next level representing Maxxis,” said Brandon Bentley, sales representative for Maxxis’ automotive department. “I am also proud to support our grassroots drivers such as Brian Peter, who took the correct path and in return can be rewarded for his success as a professional drifter and member of the 2008 Maxxis Drift Team.”
The Formula Drift season begins April 7 in Long Beach, California. Maxxis is proud to sponsor Brian Peter and looks forward to seeing him on the podium throughout 2008.
